The Q44 One Day Workshop
Our one day workshop is designed for actors who have an interest in our 2017 Performance Incubator Program or for those who have a curiosity about the foundations of Method Acting.
The workshop provides an outline of what we work towards as an ensemble, how we collaborate and the importance of language. This workshop is suited for those who would like to be exposed to new possibilities in their acting.
Each year we produce full season productions and studio play events featuring talent grown from our Acting Programs, in 2017 Q44 will continue to grow and we are looking for more talent to join us on this journey.
In preparation for this workshop actors will be given a monologue from a short contemporary scene to prepare. The piece will be explored and evolved throughout the day.
The first half of the day will focus on language and the importance of rhythm, followed by Lee Strasberg’s relaxation/concentration exercise and sensory work.
During the second half of the day actors will explore the character’s physical and emotional life with an emphasis on imagination. The increase of relaxation and concentration is stressed through out this workshop.
Our one day workshops are guided by Artisic Director Gabriella Rose-Carter.
“Gab is an astonishing, incredible and intuitive teacher who has inspired, excited and pushed me for the last three years. I have more tools in my toolbox, I bring more depth to my work and I, therefore, have a greater sense of confidence.”
– Dana Miltins, The Rabble Theatre
