Q44 is an acting studio and theatre, located in the Sacred Heart Arts Precinct at the Abbotsford Convent, Melbourne. We run weekly acting classes and workshops where brave actors can learn Method Acting and other related techniques whilst creating thought-provoking and accessible theatre productions.
The Founder of Q44, Gabriella Rose-Carter is an alumna of both the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute and Black Nexxus in New York and conveys 20 years of acting experience in both training and performance.
“An intimate theatre space allows little room to hide from the tension and tears, but we also get in on the laughs and love that the squabbling sisters can’t help but share. Rose-Carter and Melloy never falter, making this powerful one-act performance all the more convincing. Brace yourself, but enjoy.”
“Orphans has heart, wit, humour, stellar performances and great direction by Gabriella Rose-Carter. Q44 are one to watch and I can’t wait to see what they do next, but until then; go see what they’re doing now!”
“A script full of sophisticated witty one-liners, plus a serious subtext, four terrific performances from a highly skilled cast, a director who really knows her stuff, and perhaps the most audience friendly theatre space in Melbourne.”
“The gentle touch with which this piece has been staged, directed and performed allows the audience to be engaged, enveloped and moved. It’s a piece that continues to ring through your mind for days after you have left the performance.”
